Building a Professional Governance structure that empowers staff to ask clinical questions, utilize the evidence to evaluate best practices and processes, and partner with interdisciplinary teams to improve the care provided to patients is key. CNSs can help lead and sustain PG while supporting staff to elevate and be accountable to their practice.

The learner will be able to:

  • Describe the key components of a professional governance structure.
  • Explain how a CNS can lead and mentor nurses in professional governance.
  • Discuss how professional governance can improve nurse satisfaction and autonomy.
