NEOCNS Members,
Happy New Year everyone! Hope you all are staying warm during these chilly January days. The Steering Committee met in the middle of December to commit some focused time into streamlining our group’s roles and responsibilities and discuss our strategic plan for the upcoming years. We are finalizing our strategic plan, in alignment with NACNS’s national goals, and this document will be available to you all shortly.
We had wonderful applicants from our call for student representatives. As of our first meeting in January, we have had the pleasure of adding two student members, Allison Plata, and Alexis Beal. I am thankful for their insights and perspectives, they are a welcomed addition to the steering committee.
Additionally, thank you to the members who have join Monica Cummins and Cindy Wilk in planning the 2024 annual conference. I appreciate the time and effort that planning a conference takes and look forward to another event to showcase all your work!
A call for president-elect has been sent out. Please take the time to thoughtfully consider applying or nominating a colleague for this role. NEOCNS relies on the leadership and expertise of local CNSs to keep this affiliate running. While this can be a daunting task, it is well worth the time and effort to support and promote the CNS role in Ohio. Please reach out if you have any questions about the role.
We have a few upcoming events planned/ in the works. Please see the “Upcoming Events” tab on our website for details. This February we will have a lecture from Gail Bagwell, past president of the National Association of Neonatal Nurses regarding the pharmacokinetics of drugs in breast milk. I hope that you will join us for what I expect to be a very interesting lecture. Upcoming Events: How Safe is that Milk? Understanding the Pharmacokinetics of Drugs in Breast Milk.
Gratefully,
Heather Keibler MSN, APRN, ACCNS- AG, CCRN
NEOCNS President
